The Machinist, Roque Banos £8.50
The hypnotic style of the THE MACHINIST would not be complete without its grand, full-bodied orchestral score, which plays a crucial role in the development of the film's narrative. Underlining fevered emotions and goose-bumps of abject terror, it ceaselessly drives forward, much like central figure Trevor on his quest to find the source of his terrible fear. It’s a wall of sound that includes swirling strings, fractured melodies and a driving bass line. Music as rife with mystery as the story itself.

The Beautiful Country, Zbigniew Preisner £8.50
The score, though predominantly orchestral, is a testament
to Preisner's ability to make a wildly electic group of instruments sound
thoroughly at home with eachother. The score's minimal main theme - The
Beautiful Country - is a romantic, pastoral melody performed by orchestra.
As the film moves to the city a secondary, and darker, theme - Saigon
- is picked out by the Kalimba, an African instrument where metal prongs
are plucked. As the plot moves to America - The Steets of New York - the
main theme is peformed by a more modern line up of piano, double bass
and acoustic guitar, producing (for us) the strongest track of the album.
Reaching the darkest moments of the film - A Brothers Death - Preisner
introduces a wonderfully moody saxophone.

Enduring Love, Jeremy Sams £8.50
The Ivor Novello Award-winning soundtrack to Enduring Love in March 2006, with music composed by Jeremy Sams.
Sams' intelligent scoring for this adeptly-weaved thriller is furnished with a musical dynamism that favours intensity and heart-racing agitation. Expertly coloured throughout with virtuosic part-writing and jagged performance directions, the music is lent a false sense of intimacy that charges the furioso settings of the composer's character studies.

Music From The TV Series Curb Your Enthusiasm £8.50
Based upon his semi-retired millionaire lifestyle in Los Angeles, the show is a rolling advertisement for Murphy's Law. It offers a candid and uncomfortable look at the incessant misfortune that befalls David in his fictional 'real' life, populated by a cast of recurring characters and guest celebrities playing themselves.
Accompanying the writer's frequent descents into his own personal hell is the sound of a Jewish Italian spaghetti western, with passing nods to the popular work of Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone. Mellowdrama's soundtrack album features incidental music from five seasons of "CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM" including "Frolic", the show's popular title music composed by Luciano Michelini.

A Life in Suitcases, Borut Krzisnik £8.50
Borut Krzisnik is a Slovenian composer, based in Ljubljana. He has produced and released four albums, and
written music for feature films, theatre productions, dance performances and videos. His compositions are
characterised by their boldness, energy and unique sound: strong melodic lines, unstoppable rhythms, inventive harmony and high-octane intensity take the listener to breathtaking heights. The symphony orchestra is
transformed into a “super-real” orchestra, challenging the conventions of symphonic music.

Inheritance, Andrés Goldstein & Daniel Tarrab £8.50
Andrés Goldstein and Daniel Tarrab's music is a bitter-sweet complement to Academy Award-winning director James Moll's dignified feature documentary, first screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2006.
Inheritance tells the story of Monika Hertwig, the daughter of Amon Goeth, the monstrous commandant of the Plaszow Concentration Camp. Executed when Monika was a year old, Goeth’s crimes against humanity are well-documented.
